D.E.W.E.Y stands for Do Everything Without Erasing Yourself.

Dewey was my nickname as a kid, after my great-grandfather. Born in 1986 in Maryland, officially a 3rd generation Samuel (Samu=L), raised between there and California early on, and rooted here, close to DC, ever since. Seeing what went on around me in both places, good and bad, shaped me in more ways than one: my music, my style, my perspective. Circumstances had to be overcome.

Music has been there as long as I can remember, since I was a kid, maybe earlier. It was my outlet, the way I got out how I felt. My safe space. I've always loved art too, and I'm a huge lover of the local fashion between DC and Maryland, enough to want to create my own. Over the years I built up a background in tech/software, and I used it to make and execute my own apparel designs. It all grew, and as it did, Dewey became a wider vision. Hence, D.E.W.E.Y.

Throughout everything I've done in my life, I've tried to stay true to myself and never let anything change who I am. So while not many know that name anymore, or may think little Dewey changed along the way, he didn't. The response to circumstances, and what built me, now serve as a reminder, to both myself and others who, from similar or relatable experiences, align with the movement, to always be true to yourself, no matter what. It's a lifestyle that runs through everything.

The spelling is on purpose too. D3W3Y swaps both E's for 3s, and EST86 is the year I was born. The 3s are for 3rd generation, the 86 is 1986.
