No Fair Weather. October doesn't commit to anything. Keep pedaling.
The
Concept
Same route as nEVER cOAST, but a different ride — different day, different time of year. Not that ride continuing; the practice resuming. It opens on the crash as a stark reminder to stay aware of your surroundings, then widens out. October doesn't commit to anything — sun one day, grey the next, cold whenever it decides to show up. Leaves come down and the road fills up with them, hiding whatever was already there. You're reading the ground, the traffic, everything — grey areas, all of it. On a fixed gear that reading matters more, because there's no freewheeling out of a bad call.
But the weather isn't the point. Good stretches and bad ones run together until they even out. What doesn't even out is your effort — your drive. That's the whole record. Keep pedaling, never coast, because there's no fair weather.
It opens on nEVER cOAST's crash sequence replayed as a rewind — not to continue that ride's story, but as a stark reminder to stay aware of what's around you — with a sparse spoken-word passage setting the frame before Vintage comes in. Grittier than its predecessor, track for track. All self-made: production, writing, engineering, mixing, all Samu=L, with one feature (The General, on Turning Pages). The verses pull from loose leafs written over the last few years, gathered and rebuilt into one cohesive project rather than written fresh start to finish.

Samu=L — a multi-instrumentalist and self-contained creative based out of PG County, MD. gR=Y oCTOB=R is all Samu=L — writing, performance, production, engineering, mixing, mastering, sound design, and artwork — with a single feature: The General, on Turning Pages.
Maryland-born, raised between there and California early on, and rooted close to DC ever since — the sound carries both. Production leans original; sampling is a tool, not the foundation. Samu=L has been making beats since 2003 and releasing independently, with a catalog of instrumental and boom bap projects on Bandcamp.
Samu=L comes from his given name: he's a 3rd generation Samuel. His parent brand is D.E.W.E.Y — Do Everything Without Erasing Yourself. The fixed gear is not a borrowed metaphor. He rides one often.
